MODEL 71-30
Overview
The RADCO Model 71-30 is the maritime industry standard for comprehensive deck socket protection. Engineered to provide a friction fit, high-visibility seal, this external cover protects the entire fitting frame and deck-to-fitting weld from corrosive environments and debris.
Operational Application
Multi-Platform Aviation Safety: Ensures aircraft tiedown sockets remain clear of debris for the immediate launch and recovery of both rotary-wing (helicopters) and fixed-wing (jet) aircraft per NAVAIR 00-80T-120 and 00-80T-122 .
Mission Readiness: Prevents the ingress of saltwater, mud, and ice to eliminate "Foul Deck" conditions for all airborne assets .
Maintenance Efficiency: Specifically designed for use during NAVSEA 009-26 deck preservation cycles to block sandblasting grit and epoxy slurry from entering socket cavities.
Extreme Environment Performance: Provides a watertight interference fit designed to withstand high-velocity air and the extreme temperatures of jet engine run-up zones .
Technical Specifications
Governing Drawing: Manufactured to conform with NAVSHIPS Drawing 803-1916300.
Fitting Compatibility: Specifically optimized for Type VIII (Dimpled Deck) and Type IX (Non-Ballistic) aircraft securing fittings .
Material: Pressure-molded technical polymer; non-porous and impervious to JP-5, F-76, and hydraulic fluids.
Sealing Standard: Engineered for the standard $5.5$-inch deck opening required by most non-ballistic surface combatants .
Fleet Compatibility
This model is the primary external seal for all USCG and Navy hulls requiring mission-ready aviation decks .
US Coast Guard Cutters
National Security Cutters (WMSL): All hulls (750-759).
Medium Endurance Cutters (WMEC): 270' and 210' classes.
Seagoing Buoy Tenders (WLB): Juniper-class logistics/aviation decks.
US Navy Surface Fleet
Aircraft Carriers (CVN): All carrier aviation decks.
Destroyers & Cruisers (DDG/CG): Arleigh Burke and Ticonderoga classes.
Amphibious Assault (LHA/LHD): Full flight deck outfitting .
Chief’s Note: Stop wasting man-hours digging grit and ice out of your tiedowns. The 71-30's interference and friction fit stands up to the Bering Sea and the shipyard alike.
